Annual award for civic beautification of local gardens by a non-Garden Club member:

The Civic Beautification Award for 2007 was presented to Girl Scout Troop 1001 at the January 2008 Annual Club Meeting.  In May 2003, members of the then Brownie Troop 1001, along with their parents and leader, planted a garden of bushes, perennials and annuals.  Each year since then the girls and their leader, Paula Meierdiercks, have planted annuals and tended the garden.  The summer 2007 garden was especially beautiful.

Annual award for Environment Improvement:
On Arbor Day, April 28, 2006, the Environment Improvement Award was given to the Genesee Valley Conservancy for its efforts to conserve and protect land in the Genesee Valley. The Award was accepted by Eric Grace, Director, and William Lloyd, President of the Conservancy.
Arbor Day tree planting:
Geneseo Garden Club celebrated Arbor Day on Friday, April 27, 2007, with a ceremony and planting of a “patriotic” pin oak tree at the park at Volunteer Road and 20A. This Patriotic tree was dedicated to all who have served our country. A welcome by Georgia Macauley, Garden Club Co-President, was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Roger Johnson of the VFW along with the color guard including VFW member John McGinnis and VFW and American Legion members, Ray Robinson and Dennis Staley. The history of Arbor Day and an Arbor Day poem called “Trees” were contributed by club member Georgene Ehmann. Kay Robinson, Co-President of the Garden Club, then dedicated the tree to the Village and to the VFW. Mayor Richard Hatheway and VFW Commander Roger Johnson accepted the awards. The Garden Club would like to thank Palmiter's Nursery for procuring this pin oak and Garden Club member, Phil (Hop) Manapol, for planting it.
